Detailed Curriculum

Detailed Curriculum: The SLOCOE teaching staff of the Early Learning Centers believes that children learn best in a safe and nurturing environment. We support and encourage children to develop at their own pace. We provide developmentally appropriate social/emotional, language and literacy, math, creative and motor development activities that challenge and excite children. We encourage parents to become active participants in their child’s education. We recognize the unique culture and background of all families in our program and we are committed to building strong, supportive partnerships between the school and home environments.

Education

I have a Bachelor of Science Degree in Child Development from the University of La Verne. I also have an AA Degree in Early Childhood Education from Cuesta College.

Tell us about yourself and your family?

I have been married for 40 years to my husband Jamal Elmasri . I have 2 sons and a daughter. I have blessed with three grandchildren and a fourth on the way. I began my career with the County Office of Education eighteen years ago and continue to fuel my passion for teaching by staying current on techniques and skills by attending workshops.

What are your classroom strengths?

My classroom strengths including making all the children feel welcome and create a challenging environment so they can meet their full potential . I support each child at his or her level and help them move to the next level by providing activities that support their learning experiences. I believe it is important to develop good relations between the parents and the staff.

What are some favorite things about working with young children and/or what keeps you passionate motivated about this field? 

My favorite things about working with young children are the child’s faces when he or she accomplish the work or learn new subject and the positive relationship between the children and the teacher , as well as, the friendships fostered among the children.

Education

I completed the Early Child Of Education Classes, 20 years working in classrooms with pree-k, kindergartens classes, and Elementary school. Took general education classes at Cuesta College. Completed all the trainings that they offered throughout the school years, also 18 credits of Pijama Drama Academy in SAn Luis Obispo Ca.

Tell us about yourself and your family?

I have been happily married for 31 years and have three sons with age ranging from 25 years old to 29 years ok. I enjoy gardening as a past time and spending time with my family. As a family, we enjoy going to the beach and other outdoor activities.

What are your classroom strengths?

I feel that my classroom strength are that I try to encourage each student and learn as much about each individual so that I may best aide in their learning throughout the schoolyear.

What are some favorite things about working with young children and/or what keeps you passionate motivated about this field? 

What I enjoy most and keeps me motivated is my understanding of how young children are like sponges, able to effortlessly absorb and pick up on their environment and what they are taught. my passion is to provide the best environment and learning experience so that we can build a solid foundation for their journey through the education system.
